Facebook Launch New Instant Articles for Mobile

After the launch of Google Mobilegeddon, it was clear that having a mobile friendly website was as important as ever.

Now, we all know that Facebook likes to keep up with the latest technologies and trends, often switching things up to improve user experience!  Therefore, it comes as no surprise that Facebook have launched Instant Articles, a new product for publishers to create fast, interactive articles on Facebook for mobile.

Currently, mobile readers have to click on a link in their news feed with a wait of more than eight seconds for the article to load in another web page.  This new feature will allow articles to load as much as 10 times faster than typical mobile web articles, saving you precious seconds of surfing time.  BBC News and the Guardian are the first UK media companies to sign up to this new Facebook initiative that will transform the way users read news articles.

Not only this, but Facebook have developed a platform that will allow publishers to add high-resolution images that can be zoomed in and react to tilting of the phone, videos that auto-play as you scroll to them, interactive maps, audio captions and in-line commenting on individual parts of an article.

This Facebook change is another clear example of the growing importance of mobile and social marketing.
